NASA and SpaceX have announced their plans to launch the Crew-6 mission on February 26, 2023. The mission will be the sixth operational crewed flight to the International Space Station (ISS) and will carry four astronauts to the orbiting laboratory.
The mission will mark another significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between NASA and SpaceX, which has successfully carried out several missions to the ISS in recent years. The Crew-6 mission will be the third flight of the upgraded Crew Dragon spacecraft, which was developed by SpaceX under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

The Crew Dragon spacecraft will be launched atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying astronauts from around the world to the ISS. The Crew-6 mission is expected to last around six months, during which the astronauts will carry out a range of scientific experiments and maintenance work on the ISS.
The four astronauts on the Crew-6 mission have not yet been announced, but they will be selected from the pool of NASA and international partner astronauts who have been training for this mission. The crew will include two NASA astronauts and two international partner astronauts, continuing the tradition of collaboration and partnership in space exploration.
The Crew-6 mission will also continue the trend of private companies playing an increasingly important role in space exploration. The Commercial Crew Program, which was initiated by NASA in 2010, has been designed to encourage the development of commercial crew transportation capabilities for low-Earth orbit, and to reduce the country’s dependence on Russian spacecraft for crewed missions to the ISS.
SpaceX is one of two private companies that have been contracted by NASA to provide crew transportation services, with the other being Boeing. SpaceX has already carried out two crewed missions to the ISS, the Crew-1 and Crew-2 missions, both of which were successful.
